The President’s List at Waubonsee Community College celebrates excellence among students who achieve a 4.0 grade-point average while enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours. The President’s List honors the following students for the fall 2017 semester at the college.

Waubonsee Students Learn an Essential Weather-Related Trade
With January comes cold weather in the Chicago area. This year the cold has been extreme with several days of sub-zero temperatures across the region. This has made trained and certified heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) mechanics and installers some of the most important people in many communities. Fortunately, Waubonsee Community College provides opportunities for people to get that training and certification.
Waubonsee Offers Opportunities for Auto Tech Students
It used to be the case that people could learn to work on cars simply by tinkering with their own and by talking to others with more experience in automobile repair. That level of expertise could potentially lead to a successful career in auto services. Those days no longer exist. Now, even an entry-level job in automotive repair requires specialized certification. It is for that reason that the Waubonsee Automotive Technology Program exists.
Waubonsee Foundation Scholarships Are Available to Help Students
During the 2016-2017 academic year, Waubonsee Community College celebrated its 50th anniversary. For decades, Waubonsee has been an integral part of the local community. Many don’t realize that the Waubonsee Community College Foundation has been in existence for nearly as long, providing support to Waubonsee students. This year, in 2018, the Waubonsee Community College Foundation will celebrate its 40th anniversary.
The Importance of Community Colleges
The turn of the page on the calendar brings with it a turning of the page in the academic year. Many college students are returning to classes for the second term of the year while others are starting classes for the first time. Each student begins college at different times and with unique circumstances. Those circumstances are part of what makes the college experience valuable for all of us.
Waubonsee Offers "A Taste of Travel" Open House and "Travel Smart" Learning Event
Waubonsee Community College offers many local, national and international travel opportunities through its Community Education Department. On Feb. 9, the college will host an open house and learning event that will provide information about those opportunities. The open house will allow individuals to learn more about the travel options and the travel companies that Waubonsee partners with to provide these experiences to the community.

In time for spring and summer weddings, Waubonsee Community College is offering the opportunity for people to become a certified wedding and event planner.
Waubonsee VITA Program Offers Free Tax Help
Volunteers with Waubonsee Community College’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program will offer free tax help again this season in downtown Aurora.
Waubonsee Hosts FAFSA Fair
On Wednesday, Jan. 10, Waubonsee Community College will provide help with completing the 2017-2018 or the 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Assistance will be provided by staff from the Financial Aid Office of Waubonsee Community College.
