Waubonsee Enhances Beauty With Sustainability

April is always a remarkable month at Waubonsee. Though spring officially starts in March, April is usually when it starts to feel like spring in our area. With the blooming of flowers comes the annual reemergence of the beauty of our campuses. At Waubonsee, natural beauty and sustainability are college-wide efforts.

Waubonsee Hosts Poetry Event

To mark National Poetry Month, Waubonsee Community College will host Poetry Out Loud! on Thursday, April 19 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Todd Library on the Sugar Grove Campus.

Waubonsee Hosts Play, This Evil Thing

Waubonsee Community College will host a special performance of This Evil Thing, a one-person show about British conscientious objectors in World War I. The play, performed by British playwright and actor Michael Mears, will be performed at the Sugar Grove Campus in the Auditorium on April 12.

Waubonsee Student Receives Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholarship

Conor Snedeker, of Hinckley, has been named a 2018 Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar. He will receive a $1,250 scholarship.

Waubonsee Community College Hosts Open House in Sugar Grove

Waubonsee will host an open house at its Sugar Grove Campus on Saturday, April 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is family-friendly, free and open to the public.

Area Doctor Believes in Waubonsee’s Health Care Programs

Industries change over time and job prospects go up and down due to many factors in society. This can make it difficult for students to choose a career. One thing is certain, though; employment in health care is going up. Dramatically.

Dr. Gina Santori, of Lisle, knows the trends and wants to help prepare people to serve in health care. She recently made a generous donation of $250,000 to Waubonsee Community College to support the students in the Nursing and Health Care Programs.

Waubonsee Hosts Career Fair

Waubonsee Community College will host its annual Spring Career Fair on Thursday, April 5 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Academic and Professional Center on the Sugar Grove Campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Waubonsee Board Seats New Trustee

The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees seated a new member at its regularly scheduled meeting on March 21.

Waubonsee Appoints Director of Financial and Auxiliary Services

The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees appointed Lei Xie to the position of Director of Financial and Auxiliary Services. The appointment was made at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting in February. Xie assumed the duties of the position on March 12.
