Waubonsee Community College Partners with Local Libraries to Offer Free Technology Literacy Classes at Aurora Downtown Campus
Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with the Aurora Public Library District and Messenger Public Library of North Aurora, will offer free technology basic classes designed to enhance technology literacy in our community during National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week. These sessions will be held at the Waubonsee Community College Aurora Downtown Campus Library, 18 S. River St., and Spanish translation will be available. While registration is requested, it is not required.

Six Waubonsee Graduates Receive State of Illinois High School Diplomas at Kane County Jail
Waubonsee Community College celebrated a significant milestone, recognizing six graduates—Getzuri Arellano, Samuel Garcia, Ryan Howard, Jesus Canales, David Williams, and James Johnson—who earned their State of Illinois High School Diploma while enrolled in High School Equivalency classes held in Kane County Jail. This achievement highlights Sheriff Ron Hain’s and Waubonsee Community College’s commitment to helping justice-involved individuals gain access to life-changing educational opportunities, which leads to safer communities, lowers recidivism rates, and increases the employability of those who participate.

Waubonsee Community College has announced its 2024 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty member, Debra Gardner, Adjunct Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Gardner, of Batavia, has served Waubonsee since 2013.
Waubonsee Announces 2024 Outstanding Faculty Member
Each year, Waubonsee Community College names an Outstanding Faculty Member. This award is given to educators who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and innovation in their field. This year’s Outstanding Faculty Member is Kathleen Randall, Professor of Education. Randall has served Waubonsee as a full-time Education instructor since 2002 and has led the department since then.
AACC Appoints Dr. Toya Webb to National Commission on Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation
The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) has appointed Dr. Toya Webb, Chief of Staff and Vice President of Strategy at Waubonsee Community College, as one of 24 commission members to serve a three-year term on the National Commission on Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation.
Waubonsee Receives $350K Grant to Help Students Launch Careers in Rising Water Sector
Waubonsee Community College has received a three-year $350,000 grant from the National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education Program. The grant will fund a project called “Waubonsee Water Ways: Building Pathways to Careers in the Water Sector.”
