Waubonsee Community College Dean for Academic Support Jessica Moreno has been selected as one of 45 faculty and staff from across the nation to join the sixth cohort of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (H.A.C.U.) Leadership Academy, La Academia de Liderazgo. This prestigious program aims to cultivate the next generation of diverse leaders at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs).

Waubonsee Community College’s English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes don’t typically involve learning alongside baby goats, but that’s exactly how employees at Rustic Road Farm experienced their language classes, thanks to a unique partnership with the college.

Experts from every field—the humanities, the sciences, business, technology, and education—voluntarily contribute their time and talent to develop these materials. Their goal is not only to disseminate knowledge, but to do so in a manner that is accessible and equitable for all. To me, OER is the true democratization of education.

Nine Waubonsee Community College students and alumni were awarded scholarships at the 19th Annual Hispanic Pioneer Breakfast hosted by 2nd Ward Alderwoman Juany Garza on Thursday, Sept. 12, in Aurora.

Waubonsee Community College will host College Night on Monday, Oct. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. on its Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive, in the Academic and Professional Center. This event is open to the public.

Waubonsee Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Sharon Garcia as the new Assistant Provost of Teaching and Learning. Previously, Garcia served as the Executive Dean for Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Waubonsee Community College’s Aurora Fox Valley Campus, also known as the “Health Care Campus,” has recently met all requirements for recertification by the National College Testing Association (NCTA). This successful recertification extends the NCTA certification at the Aurora Fox Valley Campus through 2029. 

Waubonsee Community College will host its second annual State of the College event on Tuesday, Sept. 24 in the Academic and Professional Center on its Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. Breakfast and networking will start at 7:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 8 a.m. All are welcome to this free event.
