Waubonsee Community College Expands OER Initiative, Saving Students Over $1.3 Million

Waubonsee student Audrie Schaubel’s first encounter with Open Educational Resources (OER) began at Rosary High School, where she conducted a research project on the monopoly of the textbook industry. At the time, the idea of free high-quality textbooks seemed more theoretical than practical. But just a year later, as a Waubonsee student, Schaubel experienced first-hand the cost savings and benefits of OER.

Waubonsee Announces 2025-2026 Tuition Rates

The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees has approved tuition rates for the 2025-2026 academic year. Beginning with the fall 2025 semester, the college’s in-district and online tuition rate will increase from $138 to $141 per credit hour. The student fee will remain the same at $8 per credit hour.

Waubonsee Hosts 3rd Annual Day of Jazz, March 1

Waubonsee Community College invites music lovers to experience a variety of jazz styles and compositions at its 3rd Annual Day of Jazz, a free full day of jazz performances featuring students, faculty and guest musicians. The event will take place on Saturday, March 1 from 1 to 9 p.m. at the college’s Sugar Grove Campus Auditorium.

Waubonsee Community College is inviting motivated students to fast-track their education through its QuickPath Degree Program, an accelerated pathway that allows students to earn an associate degree in just one year.
