Two Waubonsee Students Secure Second Place in Global Sustainability Competition
Two Waubonsee Community College students, Briana Harris and Kevin Bustamente Fontanel, of Yorkville, achieved a second-place finish at the University of Illinois’ fourth annual “Reimagine Our Future” sustainability competition. The virtual event took place on December 7, 2024. It featured 250 undergraduate students from colleges and universities worldwide. Harris and Bustamente Fontanel stood out as the only community college students competing on an international stage.
Waubonsee Hosts Free Music Concerts in December
Waubonsee Community College will host several musical concerts in December. The concerts will feature traditional holiday music and a variety of different musical styles and performing groups. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

Waubonsee Community College will host a Veterans Day observance on Monday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Academic and Professional Center at Waubonsee’s Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. This community event is free and open to the public.

Waubonsee Community College has received a $525,000 Reimagining Energy and Vehicles (REV) Up Community grant through the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB). The grant aims to develop and expand electric vehicle (EV) technology through enhanced Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming development.
