Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring a stroller?
We do not recommend race participants use a stroller on our cross-country style trail. Our route through campus includes terrain with uneven grass, roots or sticks.
Can I bring my dog?
As always, service animals have access to any area of campus that is generally open to the public. Race participants are welcome to bring their dogs, provided they are friendly, remain leashed, and any necessary clean-up is handled. Those with dogs should line up toward the back of the running pack for safety and make sure they have a way to provide water.
Is there a rain date?
Waubonsee is not planning a rain date and will not be issuing refunds due to weather.
Are there bathrooms available?
Port-a-potties will be available near the start/finish area.
Where can I park?
Suggested event parkingis near the start and finish area on the north end of campus, specifically the N4 and N5 lots. Please enter campus using the North Entrance (Route 47 at College Dr, Sugar Grove, IL 60554) and follow the directional signs.
Is it ok to attend and not participate in the race?
Absolutely! We will have plenty of space for spectators. Feel free to cheer your runner on from the pre/post-race area or from the athletic field bleachers.
Each food truck vendor will accept cash/card for purchases in addition to race vouchers.
The touch-a-truck is a free offering and will feature specialized vehicles sure to interest big and small enthusiasts.
What do the proceeds of this event help?
This race benefits the Waubonsee Community College Foundation Scholarship program. Each year, the Foundation raises funds to provide scholarships for deserving area students. For the 2023-2024 academic year, the Foundation awarded 367 scholarships totaling nearly $363,000.
Can I wait to register on the day of the race?
We will have race day registration open from 7:30 - 8:45 a.m. If you register on the day of the race, we cannot guarantee your preferred t-shirt size will be available.
Can I buy food at the food trucks?
Race participants will be given a voucher to choose one of the following items from our food truck vendors: an ice cream treat from Foxy's Ice Cream; two tacos from Santiago's Tacos; or buñueloswith coffee/cocoa from Tamales+. Our food truck vendors will also accept cash/card purchases, and may have other menu items available for purchase at their discretion.
How will the race be timed?
We have partnered with Race Time, Inc. to provide bib chip timing for our event.
How will race results be posted?
We will email race results to participants following the race. Results will also be posted to the Waubonsee Trail Run page
Can I make a donation to the event without participating in the race?
Yes, we can accept donations by cash/check at the event. If you prefer to make a donation by credit card, please visit waubonsee.edu/donate.
What are the prizes?
Prize packs will be given to the fastest female and fastest male runners in both the 5K and 10K categories. Additionally, we will be providing a prize pack to the race participant with the most Waubonsee spirit. All 10K runners will receive a finisher medal.
Will water be provided?
There will be multiple complimentary water stations throughout the course. Please, stay hydrated!
