Waubonsee Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Tamekia Smith, of Flossmoor, as the Dean for Business and Social Science.
Dr. Smith brings over 20 years of experience in higher education and healthcare, demonstrating a strong commitment to student success, strategic resource management, and the development of curriculum that aligns with workforce needs.
Prior to joining Waubonsee, Dr. Smith served as the Assistant Dean of Career Programs at Moraine Valley Community College. In this role, she led a diverse portfolio of programs, including Health Sciences, Public Service, Mechanical Technology, and Nursing. She has held faculty positions at Indiana University Northwest, Joliet Junior College, and Triton College.
Dr. Smith holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and a Master of Science in Training and Development from the University of Saint Francis. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Science from Southern Illinois University.
