Dr. Sobek Addresses Recent DACA Announcement
Waubonsee Community College serves a remarkably diverse community and that diversity is reflected in our student body, faculty, and staff. I know that many Waubonsee students and employees are concerned about how the recent announcement regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program might affect them, their families, their friends or their communities.
Waubonsee Names Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Members
Two Waubonsee Community College adjunct faculty members have been selected as the 2017 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Members. Nancy Emanuel, an English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor, and Mike Riebe, an Instructor of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), were both selected for their teaching excellence.
Waubonsee Names Distinguished Contributor
For his dedication and service, Waubonsee Community College has named Richard “Shorty” W. Dickson the 2017 Distinguished Contributor.
Waubonsee Names Distinguished Alumnus
For his entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen, Steven R. Henrikson has been named the Waubonsee Community College 2017 Distinguished Alumnus. Henrikson, of Morristown, Tenn., is currently a managing partner at Henrikson & Graul Capital Partners, LLC.
Resources to the Rescue: Providing the resources students need at the time they need them
The ancient proverb “it takes a village to raise a child” is similar to the idea behind the Resources to the Rescue program at Waubonsee Community College. This program highlights the many resources available to assist students in achieving their educational goals. Services are readily available throughout the year but may not be important until the need arises at a specific point in the students’ journey. Resources to the Rescue provides the help students need, when they need it most.
A Welcome To The New Academic Year
Students across the nation are preparing for the start of another academic year. For some, this will be their first year of preschool, kindergarten or first grade. For others, it may be their first year at a new school, middle school, high school or college.
Waubonsee Certified by Mopar Career Automotive Program LOCAL
Waubonsee Community College has partnered with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the National Coalition of Certification Centers to establish the college as a Mopar Career Automotive Program Local training site. Officials from the Mopar Career Automotive Program Local were at the college on Thursday to launch the college’s involvement with the program.

Waubonsee Community College recently completed a seven-year program that resulted in 84 student scholarships totaling more than $598,000.
