As the area’s community college, Waubonsee Community College recognizes the economic hardships experienced by its residents and students due to the ongoing pandemic. That recognition has led to the development of the Waubonsee Pandemic Relief Plan. This plan is aimed at providing economic relief to both district taxpayers and students.

Artist, author, and entrepreneur Vivian Greene wrote, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass… It’s about learning to dance in the rain…” Our nursing students could have easily decided to wait out the storm, but they accepted the challenge to learn to dance in the rain. Since the spring of 2020, students have learned many dances. They have learned the dances of patience, collaboration, adaptability, and perseverance.

Waubonsee Community College will host a virtual career event on Tuesday, December 15 from 6 to 7 p.m. Featuring up-to-date information on employment trends, the event is designed for anyone looking to launch a new career or improve the one you currently have.

The end of the year is often a time of reflection for many.

The Waubonsee Community College Foundation scholarship application for 2021-2022 is now open. This one application allows people to apply for all Foundation scholarships that students may be eligible for. Scholarships awarded will be available for use beginning with the Fall 2021 semester.

In 2018, we surveyed the community and received responses from more than 1,500 people. In this needs assessment, we learned that our stakeholders did not know the scope of our offerings and many hoped for new programs to be developed at the college. Feedback from this survey helped us create our FY2020-2022 Strategic Plan which includes new program development as one of our key drivers with the goal to design and deliver community-responsive programming.

Waubonsee Community College nursing students may have an easier time earning their bachelor’s degree thanks to a new agreement with the University of Illinois Chicago. 

The Waubonsee Community College Foundation approved Kaleshia “Kay” Page to join its board of directors at the board’s meeting on September 15.

We need the arts now, more than ever. In this troubling time, as we isolate and maneuver through the pandemic, we have probably found ourselves listening to music, watching movies, reading books, or perusing museum websites all the time. We have turned to the arts for safety and security, maybe without even realizing it.
