Because of them, I have learned to know my marks and to own them, I have learned to tell my own personal stories, and I have learned that relying on others and forming true connections with my mentors is an invaluable resource.

Waubonsee’s Strong and Resilient Women

According to the Pew Research Center, the first female college president in the United States was Frances Elizabeth Willard who became president of the Evanston College for Ladies in Illinois in 1871. When Evanston College merged with Northwestern University and became the Women’s College of Northwestern University in 1873, Frances Willard served as the first dean of women. An active social reformer, a statue of Frances Willard was the first statue selected for the National Statuary Hall Collection to honor a woman.

Without question, I felt them slice into me many years ago in the stale sunlight of a late afternoon. I was a Writing Specialist at a university. I dispensed my duties with relative comfort after several years of both teaching and studying writing. Not only that, but I was the product of an interdisciplinary curriculum. I liked to think I knew a little bit about everything.

Waubonsee Board of Trustees Votes to Keep Tuition Rate Steady for the 2022-2023 Academic Year

The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to keep the college’s tuition rate steady for the 2022–2023 academic year. The current in-district tuition rate of $132 per credit hour will remain in effect through next year, as will the current student fee of $8 per credit hour.
