What is LLI?

Where learning never ends!

At Waubonsee, we believe learning is a lifelong process, so we proudly support the Lifelong Learning Institute, an open membership organization for adults age 50 and older who are actively engaged in the pursuit of knowledge. In our stimulating peer-learning environments, members plan, lead and participate in courses, course-related trips and social events. LLI members are encouraged to volunteer in some capacity in support of the organization. It's easy to join and only $25 per year – click here to become a member and/or register for classes.

Mission

To provide our membership with a defined and member-generated framework for life-enriching, dynamic educational experiences through lifelong learning programs.

Vision

To be a self-sustaining and self-governing community of active, mature adults offering a diverse and intellectually stimulating array of noncredit educational offerings in a wide variety of academic disciplines.

Values
  • Continued learning
  • Intellectual inquiry
  • Social interaction
  • Active member participation in lifelong learning.

Artist Talk: Rosalynn Gingerich

Artist Talk: Rosalynn Gingerich

Thursday, February 20 at 2 p.m. in the Arrowhead Gallery, Dickson Center (DKN)

The Waubonsee Art Department hosts gallery exhibitions by a variety of artists throughout the year. You are invited to view the exhibits and attend the accompanying talk by the artist.

Through expansive installations featuring sculptural forms and vivid colors, Gingerich seeks to heighten viewers' perceptual awareness of their environment. By weaving vibrant and flowingly organic structures with the solid and rigid lines of the inhabited architecture, her work invites viewers to reconsider the materiality of color, and to explore the profound effect of spatial relationships on our day-to-day perception of the world around us.

Emergency Preparedness for 18+ year olds

Tue., March 4 at Aurora Downtown Campus or Wed., March 5 at Sugar Grove Campus

You can make a difference in how well your family and your community prepare for the many hazards that surround us each day. Personal preparedness is the key in keeping your family, and your community, safe during emergencies and disasters. This can be achieved by maximizing awareness and encouraging participation in disaster preparedness activities to affect change at the community level. Courses will go over weather and natural disasters (think last year's February tornadoes), basic gun safety, basic first aid, and having the right items in your office/classroom/home to be ready to go in an emergency.

Artist Talk: Julianne Wang

Artist Talk: Julianne Wang

Wednesday, April 9 at 2 p.m. in the Arrowhead Gallery, Dickson Center (DKN)

The Waubonsee Art Department hosts gallery exhibitions by a variety of artists throughout the year. You are invited to view the exhibits and attend the accompanying talk by the artist.

Wang's mutli-faceted practice spans a wide variety of media, often including organic and intentionally delicate materials. Her work evokes harmony and contemplation as it explores the impact of shifting social environments on individual and collective relationships. Influenced by Eastern philoso[hy and spirituality, Wang's aesthetic marries the rhythm of nature with the beauty of existence. The embrace of diverse worldviews and life's unpredictability provides a path of universal resonance viewers are invited to share in.
