Two long-standing members of the Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees have retired from their service on the board.

Firefighters are on the front line of service to their communities at all times. The work of a firefighter requires specialized training and skills in order to save lives and property. Waubonsee Community College’s Fire Science Technology Program provides the training necessary for communities to have the firefighters they need.

This time of the year is an exciting time for many area high school students as they decide where they will attend college in the fall. I enjoy seeing on Twitter the many people sharing their college plans with the world.

The Aurora Strong First Responders Scholarship is a $1,000 annual scholarship that will be awarded to one student in the Fire Science Program, the Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic Program or the Criminal Justice Program with the intent to become a police officer.

Waubonsee will host an open house on the Sugar Grove Campus on Saturday, April 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. The event is family-friendly, free and open to the public.
