Community Colleges are the path to debt-free higher education

Today’s student in the United States enters a higher education system different from the one experienced by previous generations. A decades-long drop in public investment in higher education (especially at the state level) has laid a greater responsibility on the tuition paying student, often leading to burdensome levels of debt to obtain a degree. But there still exists an affordable path to higher education, and even a debt-free plan – community college.

Waubonsee Announces Christine Corrigan as Dean

Waubonsee Community College recently announced the appointment of Christine Corrigan to the position of Dean for Online Learning and the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT). The Board of Trustees approved this appointment at their meeting on Jan. 20, and Corrigan will assume the duties of this new position on Feb. 1.

Small Business Plan Competition Underway

Small business owners can get a boost to planned business expansion efforts through the second annual Poised for Growth Business Plan Competition. The competition is offered through the Illinois Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) at Waubonsee Community College and Elgin Community College.
