Events and Activities

Join a student club or organization that is related to your area(s) of interest or major.

Attend the Exploring Majors Fair each fall at the Sugar Grove and Aurora Downtown Campuses. It's a chance to browse all of your options and gather info from faculty and staff in a quick, convenient way! 

Attend College Night to ask questions and get information about options for majors at four-year schools.

Courses

Take COL 131 - Strategies for Career Exploration. This 1-credit class counts as a Social Awareness/Personal Growth credit or an elective credit.

Use your first year to take some general education requirements. You’ll be moving toward a degree and may find an area you want to explore further.

Internships and Apprenticeships

Pursue paid and unpaid work experiences and internships that are related to your area(s) of interest. Seeing what a career requires on a day-to-day basis can help direct your decision about it. If you've decided on a career, you may be able to work in that field AND get your tuition paid with an apprenticeship.

Deciding where to attend is just the beginning of many important decisions you'll make during your college experience — choosing a major or degree path is another crucial one.
