Internships - Employer Information

If a student is interested in earning credit for an internship, they must speak with their Academic Advisor and obtain consent from a faculty supervisor. Students and employers can reach out to the Sr. Work-Based Learning Coordinator with questions internships@waubonsee.edu. If they are eligible to earn credit, 80 clock hours during a semester term equals 1 credit and there is potential to earn 3 credits for an internship.

If a student is not interested in earning credit, there are no additional requirements from the college’s standpoint. It is advisable for a student to have obtained at least 12 credit hours in their program of study prior to starting an internship.

Waubonsee is currently selecting a new career services platform. Until further notice, we encourage students and employers to utilize Handshake and Career Coach to search for internships and post opportunities. Please feel free to also email an internship advertisement or description to internships@waubonsee.com to be passed on to students.

We strongly encourage paid internships. Offering a paid internship position makes the opportunity more competitive, equitable, and can help to ensure commitment and investment on the part of the intern. If an internship includes design work, it is standard practice to pay the intern for those services.
