Waubonsee Offers "A Taste of Travel" Open House and "Travel Smart" Learning Event
Waubonsee Community College offers many local, national and international travel opportunities through its Community Education Department. On Feb. 9, the college will host an open house and learning event that will provide information about those opportunities. The open house will allow individuals to learn more about the travel options and the travel companies that Waubonsee partners with to provide these experiences to the community.

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, Waubonsee Community College will provide help with completing the 2017-2018 or the 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Assistance will be provided by staff from the Financial Aid Office of Waubonsee Community College.

Waubonsee students participated in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Writers Competition and Festival held in November at Prairie State College.

Waubonsee Scholarship Application Deadline Approaches
Last year, the Waubonsee Community College Foundation awarded 324 scholarships totaling more than $270,000. This year the foundation is set to provide more than 360 scholarships totaling more than $345,000. However, you must act soon to take advantage of these opportunities. People interested in receiving a scholarship for the 2018-2019 academic year must apply by February 5, 2018.
Waubonsee Offering SAT and ACT Prep Courses
High school students in Illinois are now required to take the SAT in the spring of their junior year. To help students prepare for this, Waubonsee Community College offers test preparation courses for both the SAT and the ACT.

Like many college instructors, when I enter the classroom I often begin my lecture in this way. In my Survey of the Humanities class, an arts survey course, I begin the second half of the term asking my students, “How many of you listen to music on a regular basis?” Unlike similar queries about viewing sculpture or reading poetry, I always get a nearly unanimous response; in fact, most listen to music on a daily basis.
