AACC Recognizes Waubonsee Faculty with 2024 Dale P. Parnell Faculty Distinction
Sugar Grove – A Waubonsee Community College faculty member has been recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). Dr. Sheela Vemu, Associate Professor of Biology, was selected as one of 36 faculty for the 2024 Dale P. Parnell Faculty Distinction Recognition. This award recognizes individuals who go above and beyond what is required to ensure students succeed academically.
Hope the Comfort Dog Sworn in for Duty at Waubonsee
Sugar Grove – Hope, Waubonsee Community College’s first-ever K9 comfort dog, was officially sworn in at a ceremony on the Sugar Grove campus Wednesday.

Waubonsee Community College invites the public to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Technical Education Center (TEC). The event will take place on Tuesday, April 23 at 2:30 p.m. on the south end of the Sugar Grove Campus.
Waubonsee Curates Cultural Programming in April to Honor Asian American and Pacific Islander History
Sugar Grove – Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is observed from May 1 through May 31. This month is dedicated to honoring and celebrating the many contributions and accomplishments of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans throughout history. Waubonsee Community College will be celebrating this important month before the end of the spring semester. All events are free and open to the public.
Waubonsee, University of Central Missouri Agreement Supports Seamless Transfer from 2-Year to 4-Year Degree in Design and Drafting Technology
Students who are interested in pursuing careers in Computer Aided Design and Drafting can now take advantage of a new opportunity to seamlessly transfer their two-year degree from Waubonsee to a four-year degree in Design and Drafting Technology. This is possible thanks to a new articulation agreement between Waubonsee and the University of Central Missouri, with educational opportunities in Warrensburg and online.
Chicago-Based Jazz Vocalist and Composer Alyssa Allgood Quintet to Perform at Waubonsee’s Sugar Grove Campus, April 6
Waubonsee Community College will host a free community concert featuring Chicago-based jazz vocalist and composer Alyssa Allgood. The event kicks off at the Sugar Grove Campus Auditorium on Saturday, April 6 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Dr. Toya Webb Appointed Chief of Staff/Vice President of Strategy at Waubonsee Community College
At their March 20 meeting, the Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees officially appointed Dr. Toya Webb, of Barrington, as the college’s new Chief of Staff/Vice President of Strategy. She will officially assume the role on April 1.
Waubonsee Hosting Career-Focused Open Houses at Aurora Fox Valley and Plano Campuses

The Health Care Programs Open House will take place at the Aurora Fox Valley Campus on Saturday, March 23 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, followed by the Tech Programs Open House at the Plano Campus on Wednesday, April 3 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. These free events are open to the public.
