Waubonsee is excited to be developing a long-term strategic plan with the help of Huron Consulting Services, LLC, who were selected as the college’s partner in January 2024 after a bid process. In addition to this document that will chart the course for the future direction of the college, three supporting operational plans will also be developed — continuous process improvement, technology, and strategic enrollment management.

Why This Process? Why Now?

The Case for Action, reflecting engagement with Waubonsee Community College leadership, articulates concisely the necessity of the Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement project.

RATIONALE

Waubonsee Community College (WCC) seeks data-informed strategic action supporting its legacy of continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to consider our strategic direction, in ways that reflect the collective voices of the College and broader community.

ACTION

WCC is prepared to act. Our work will be grounded in our values, reflective of identified strategic priorities, and data driven. We will remain focused on our people, relieving administrative burdens and developing effective and efficient processes. Our offerings will reflect market trends and community needs.

IMPACT

WCC will positively impact the experiences of students, staff, and faculty. By refreshing processes and building capacity to reach and serve a diverse population of students, we will remain fiscally strong and contribute to the vibrancy of the local and regional community.

CONSEQUENCE

To stay relevant and deliver educational opportunities in line with community and market needs, WCC must act. If we do not, we risk jeopardizing a history of financial security, a strong reputation of relevancy, and we risk being seen as complacent.

When Is All This Happening?

A draft of the main strategic plan is planned for August 2024, so several activities are planned for this spring and summer. Once the plan is finalized, development of the three subplans will begin, with targeted completion in early 2025.

Who Will Be Involved?

The short answer? Everybody!

From students to district residents, staff members to local employers, everyone is invited to tell us how we're doing now and what we need to be doing better in the future! So we'll be conducting surveys, town halls, focus groups, and interviews with the campus and larger local community. Details will be posted here as soon as they are available.
