The student body at Waubonsee Community College is made up of many students with different backgrounds and stories. As a former competitive rugby player, Anthony Bisogni planned to play rugby professionally until he received an injury which prevented him from pursuing that dream. At that point, he decided to go to college.
Anthony Bisogni was born in Michigan and lived there until the age of four, when his family moved to Saint Charles, Ill. While in high school, he took a few automotive classes and developed an interest in that line of work, but it was not part of his future plans at the time.
While contemplating what his life path should be, he was encouraged to go to Waubonsee and continue his education. He decided to go because it was convenient and affordable. While attending Waubonsee, one of his biggest accomplishments was earning his Master Technician Certification. This is done by passing all eight Automotive Service Excellence Certifications.
“It felt good getting this certification since nobody else that is in the program right now has their Master Tech Certification,” said Bisogni.
“Each instructor brings something unique from their experiences in their own areas of expertise so it’s hard to single one of them out since they all have been great instructors to me.”
Guy Tiberio, Assistant Professor of Automotive Technology, recognized Bisogni’s potential immediately.
“Since the first day I met Anthony, I knew he would be successful in whichever path he chose to take. His desire to learn, desire to show mastery of skills and his positive attitude have helped him become a great technician, as well as a great role model for other students in the program.”
While the details of Bisogni’s future plans aren’t set in stone, he has a clear vision of what he hopes to accomplish in his life.
“After I graduate from Waubonsee, I plan to work and make a little money so that I can transfer to Southern Illinois University and then, in the future, own a shop and work on cars and hopefully later teach as an automotive instructor.”
Bisogni has a clear understanding of what success means to him.
“Personal success is being able to look in the mirror and be satisfied with the person that you are and the achievements that you accomplished.”
Bisogni was recognized by the college’s board of trustees at its December meeting as a Student Success: Featured Student.
