This course is designed to provide the Business, Nursing, Education, or other non-STEM student with basic algebraic concepts necessary to continue in non-STEM related mathematics courses. Topics include: real numbers, using algebraic methods to find solutions of inequalities and equations, coordinate systems, functions, polynomials, rational functions, radical functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, graphing and transformations of functions, and algebraic methods to solve systems of equations.
Note: Credit is not granted for both MTH109 and MTH129. Students wishing to take Calculus With Analytic Geometry I (MTH131) should NOT register for this course. This course does not fulfill the mathematics requirement in some Associate degree programs. Please check with your counselor. Prereq, C or better in MTH072 and MTH075, or placement by appropriate measures
