This course is designed to provide the student with the skills and knowledge necessary to be examined and certified by the Illinois Office of the State Fire marshal as a Hazardous Material First Responder according to certification standards. Topics include roles of a hazardous materials first responder, physical characteristics, toxicity, exposure, and contamination terminology. The classification, regulations and policies related to hazardous materials at the local, state, and federal level are emphasized. Prereq, C or better in FSC 105, or concurrent enrollment
