Want to know more about how you can pay for college?
February marks Financial Aid Awareness Month, and Waubonsee Community College has planned a series of free public events to help students learn more about receiving financial aid for the 2014-2015 school year.
The financial aid-related event series will launch next week with Financial Aid Fast Lane, offering students the chance to find answers to their financial aid questions, Tuesday, Jan. 21 - Thursday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. each day, at the Second Floor Desk in the Student Center on Waubonsee's Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive.
From there, Waubonsee Financial Aid Advisors will be on hand for three FAFSA Fairs. The workshops are designed to help students and parents learn how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Anyone planning to attend should bring a copy of a 2013 W-2 form and/or their 2013 federal income tax return.
The series of FAFSA Fairs will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 1 - 3 p.m. in Room 160 on Waubonsee's Aurora Campus, 18 S. River Street, Aurora. Next, the college will host its College Goal Sunday Event/FAFSA Fair on Sunday, Feb. 9, from 1 - 3 p.m. in Rooms 165 and 175 of the Academic and Professional Center on the Sugar Grove Campus. The FAFSA Fair series will conclude with a return to Room 160 at the Aurora Campus on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 4 - 6 p.m.
Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces are invited to learn more about their educational tuition assistance options, as Waubonsee hosts a VA Education Benefits Seminar on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 4 - 6 p.m. in Room 106 of the Student Center on the Sugar Grove Campus.
