Each year, more than 3 million Americans suffer a devastating injury while on the job. In an effort to reduce that number and improve safety in local workplaces, Waubonsee Community College will partner with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) to present its bi-annual Safety Day event later this month.
The all-day event on Wednesday, March 19, from 8 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the Academic and Professional Center on Waubonsee’s Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive, will feature presentations from more than 30 professional safety speakers.
Speakers will offer guidance on an array of workplace safety issues, including OSHA’s Top 10 violations, accident investigations, OSHA training requirements, mock inspections, and more.
Specific sessions will include presentations on construction health hazards, falls, whistleblower rights, manual materials handling, combustible dust, and what to expect from OSHA in 2014, among others. A special “Green Track” will include presentations focused on issues arising in industries specializing in so-called green or sustainable energy components, such as lithium batteries and solar energy.
Cost to register for the seminar is $99, including a continental breakfast and lunch.
