Gary Kecskés, Assistant Vice President of Workforce Development and Adult and Community Learning at Waubonsee Community College, has been appointed to serve on the board for the Montgomery Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).
The MEDC is a non-profit organization funded by local businesses and taxing bodies, as well as the Village of Montgomery. The MEDC exists to promote economic development, economic stability, expansion and diversification within the Village of Montgomery by assisting the development of large and small businesses in the village.
Kecskés said he chose to serve on the board as “a natural extension” of the relationship between workforce development at the college and economic development promotion bodies in Waubonsee’s neighboring communities, like Montgomery.
“Workforce and economic development truly form the engine driving economic and job growth, and therefore are of vital importance to the college and the well-being of our local communities,” Kecskés said. “At Waubonsee we have a responsibility to support community needs that align with our mission, to be adaptive, flexible and responsive.
“This is just one way, of many ways, to support the mutual interests of the community and the community college.”
