At its meeting on December 8, 2015, the Waubonsee Community College Foundation elected Jerry Rich, of Sugar Grove, to its board of directors. Mr. Rich is the architect and owner of Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, one of only two golf courses in America’s Top 100 designed by the owner and amateur architect.

Mr. Rich graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1961 with a degree in mathematics and earth science. After graduation, he went to work at his father’s company, Rich Inc. In the 1970s he created the way Wall Street trading is still done today with the development of the integrated trading terminal.

Mr. Rich is most proud of the Kids Golf Foundation of Illinois, a non-profit junior golf organization housed at Rich Harvest Farms that he founded with lifelong friend Don Springer in 1998. Since its inception, the Foundation has introduced 250,000 kids to the sport of golf. Aside from Kids Golf Foundation, Mr. Rich is also involved with St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, which was built upon land donated by the Rich family. Rich Harvest Farms is proud to have hosted the 2009 Solheim Cup as well as the 2015 Palmer Cup and Western Amateur. The club will host the NCAA Golf Championships in May of 2017.

The Waubonsee Community College Foundation is a nonprofit organization that seeks to obtain funding for scholarships, educational opportunities and services to students and residents of Waubonsee’s district.
