Waubonsee Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Danielle F. Fundora Hardesty, of Rockford, as the Dean for Arts and Humanities.
Dr. Hardesty brings 15 years of experience in higher education. As a second-generation Cuban American, Dr. Hardesty is committed to offering rigorous, accessible, and culturally relevant education to create lifelong learners. Her current research develops a framework of equity-centered assessment that combines the approaches of Understanding by Design and Universal Design for Learning to create meaningful processes that improve student learning.
Dr. Hardesty joins Waubonsee from Rock Valley College, where she served as the Associate Professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department. In addition to her teaching expertise, Dr. Hardesty advocated for faculty as the Faculty Association President and provided strategic leadership as Chair of the Curricular Assessment Committee at Rock Valley College. Over the last three years, she has also contributed to Rock Valley's Higher Learning Commission accreditation efforts.
Dr. Hardesty earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Arizona State University, a Master of Education in Evaluation, Assessment, Research, and Learning from Georgia Southern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame.
