 Dr. Kimberly Chavis, Interim Provost

Waubonsee Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kimberly Chavis, of Plainfield, as the Interim Provost through June 30.  

Dr. Chavis brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education, with a passion for teaching and learning, and expertise in managing large academic divisions, leading new program development, directing institutional and specialized accreditation efforts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing capital construction projects. Dr. Chavis has witnessed the transformative power of education throughout her extensive teaching career, spending a decade as a tenured faculty member with the City Colleges of Chicago and continuing as an adjunct faculty member at Harper College.  

Dr. Chavis earned her Doctor of Education in Higher Education and Organizational Change from Benedictine University – the latest credential in a diverse academic background that includes an MBA in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University; a Master of Science in Cannabis Science and Therapeutics from the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy; and a Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law from the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. In addition, Dr. Chavis serves as a Peer Reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission and as a consultant member for the Commission on Dental Competency Assessment.
