New Faculty Fall 2022

Waubonsee Community College has several new faculty members as classes kicked off for the fall semester recently. 

Dr. Nour Al Naber has joined Waubonsee as an Instructor of Business, serving previously in an adjunct role at the college. Dr. Naber earned her doctorate from the University of St. Francis. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Governors State University with a Certificate in Leadership and Organizational Development. Dr. Naber also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Banking Services from Philadelphia University in Amman, Jordan. Most recently, Dr. Naber served as an Associate Professor of Marketing at North Park University. Before that, Dr. Naber taught in an adjunct role at Joliet Junior College.

Andrew Clements has joined Waubonsee also as an Instructor of Business. A proud alumnus of Waubonsee, Clements has served as a long-term adjunct faculty member at the college and has earned a reputation for his dedication to quality teaching. In 2018, Clements was recognized as the college’s Outstanding Adjunct Faculty. In 2019, Clements was nominated for the Illinois Community College Trustees Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member Award. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Aurora University. Clements also serves as the President and CEO of Weblinx, Inc., located in Oswego. He has 20 years of experience in digital marketing and business management. 

Debra Kayes Halpern has joined Waubonsee as an Instructor of Art Foundations. Kayes Halpern brings expertise in curating fine art, design thinking, and graphic design through a community-based approach. Her latest showcase, which opened in Berlin, Germany, explored the boundaries of painting, art, and sculptures. Kayes Halpern holds a post-baccalaureate degree in Graphic Design from Columbia College Chicago and a Master’s in Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Most recently, Kayes Halpern served as an Associate Professor at Columbia College Chicago. She also served as an Assistant Professor and Gallery Director for Hastings College. Kayes Halpern has taught in higher education for over 21 years. 

 Dr. Tracy Metcalf has joined Waubonsee as a Counselor. She is a National Certified Counselor and holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Governors State University. Dr. Metcalf earned a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Sociology and Political Science from Lewis University. Dr. Metcalf has specialized training in sexual assault counseling and has held various roles at Joliet Junior College. 

Courtney Nomiyama joins Waubonsee as a Librarian with experience working in academic and school settings. Nomiyama holds a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Asian Studies from St. Olaf College. Prior to Waubonsee, Nomiyama served as a Library Assistant at Pearl City High School in Pearl City, HI, and as a Student Reference Specialist at the University of Washington Tacoma Library. In both roles, Nomiyama provided reference and research services in various formats, including in-person, email, chat, and videoconference.
