The Waubonsee Community College Foundation presented eight students with the John J. Swalec, Jr. President’s Achievement Award. The students were chosen for this award from a pool of 158 qualified applicants. Individual interviews were conducted by a panel of judges made up of community and business leaders.

The awardees are:

  • Jessica Bollman of Batavia
  • Esmeralda Castro of Aurora
  • Kera Deckelman of Sandwich
  • Hannah Hogan of North Aurora
  • Mumba Kabemba of Aurora
  • Rodrgue Makindu of Mooseheart
  • Alyx Ptak of Aurora

The John J. Swalec, Jr. President’s Achievement Awards program is an effort to identify and reward individual student achievement and to honor those individuals who have overcome obstacles on their way to achieving their educational goals. These awards are given to help them attain those goals.

Waubonsee thanks the community leaders who volunteered their time to conduct the interviews and select this years’ awardees. They are:
