The outbreak of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 has generated a range of emotions, feelings, and responses. At Waubonsee Community College, our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our students, employees, and community members. We are also committed to the continuation of teaching and learning and helping our students reach their educational goals, which includes successful completion of the spring 2020 semester.
A website, www.waubonsee.edu/covid19 to share all Waubonsee updates, resources, and other information has been developed as a centralized communication center to ensure clear and timely communication. Please be certain to visit the website regularly as this is a rapidly evolving situation that may require frequent changes to previously communicated updates. The website also provides a hotline and an online form to contact the college with specific questions not addressed.
I also wanted you to know that Waubonsee Community College maintains an Emergency Response Manual and an Emergency Management Group led by me as President. This group activated a Coronavirus Action Team and we have all been actively monitoring developments and responses from across the world, across the nation, and locally. We are relying heavily on guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In this last week, I have seen our Waubonsee community come together to provide support, information, resources, and options. I am truly appreciative of the flexibility, kindness, patience, and hard work of everyone involved. We remain committed to the safety and well-being of our students, employees, and community members as we work together through this unprecedented situation.
Christine J. Sobek, Ed.D.
President, Waubonsee Community College
