Waubonsee Community College will host events in March to celebrate Women’s History Month.

On March 5 at 7 p.m. Jeanne Schultz Angel will present “Casting a Historic Vote: Suffrage in Illinois.” Angel holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and a master’s degree in history. This event will be held in the Auditorium on the college’s Sugar Grove Campus.

On March 11 at 2:30 p.m. Emily Burd Thomas and Phoebe Maina will discuss their role in founding Dignified Children International, a non-profit organization in Nairobi, Kenya. This event will be held in Bodie Hall, Room 147 on the college’s Sugar Grove Campus.

On March 26 at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Melissa Isaacson will discuss Title IX and her experience as a player on the girls’ basketball team at Niles West High School. Isaacson wrote the book State: A Team, A Triumph, A Transformation. The morning event will be held on the Sugar Grove Campus in the Academic and Professional Center Event Room and the evening event will be in the Multipurpose Room on the college’s Aurora Downtown Campus.
