Waubonsee Community College announces that Mr. Robert Cofield has assumed the position of Director of School District Partnerships.

Cofield has served as the High School Partnership Manager at Waubonsee since 2015. Prior to joining Waubonsee, he was employed as a secondary school teacher at West Aurora School District 129 and District School Board of Collier County in Naples, Florida for 17 years. He also served as the Health and Physical Education Department Chair at Collier County for seven years.

Cofield holds a Master of Science Degree in Physical Education from Illinois State University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Illinois Wesleyan University.

In 2018, Waubonsee began the process of reinvention in order to better serve our students and the community. One of the goals of the reinvention is a heightened focus on developing, strengthening and formalizing relationships with each of our school districts. Cofield’s work over the last year has moved the college toward achieving this goal.

In addition to his work in coordinating dual credit offerings with local high schools, Cofield has worked on planning for the implementation of state legislation such as the Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness Act and amendments to the Dual Credit Quality Act. He has also worked on the adoption of Illinois’ Postsecondary and Career Expectations (PaCE) Framework and with the Valley Education for Employment System (VALEES) to plan school district programming in partnership with Waubonsee. Cofield’s role is expanding for coordination and development of partnerships not only with area high schools but also with each of the K-12 school districts in the college’s district.

The college’s board of trustees approved Cofield’s appointment at their regularly scheduled meeting on March 20 and he assumed the duties of the position on March 21.
