Waubonsee Community College completed a guaranteed transfer agreement with Columbia College Chicago on March 6. The agreement was signed by Dr. Diane Nyhammer, Vice President of Educational Affairs at Waubonsee, and Dr. Holly Herrera, Associate Provost for Transfer Initiatives and Academic Partnerships at Columbia College Chicago.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed, “Waubonsee and Columbia agree to a cooperative relationship to better serve students and to facilitate the transfer process from Waubonsee to Columbia through a Guaranteed Transfer Admission Program.”

This agreement offers Waubonsee students guaranteed admission to more than 40 Bachelor of Arts degree programs at Columbia. Also, students who participate in this program will receive a scholarship for their first year of enrollment at Columbia based on cumulative grade point average on all transferable courses taken at Waubonsee. This scholarship is renewable each year until the completion of 120 attempted credit hours or four years, whichever is reached first. This scholarship can be used in addition to other merit-based scholarships that the student may be eligible for.

“We are excited about this opportunity for students at Waubonsee. This agreement will streamline the college transfer experience from the very beginning making it easier for students to reach their goals,” said Nyhammer.

“The guaranteed admission partnership between Waubonsee Community College and Columbia College Chicago will allow students to focus on their coursework and not worry if they will be admitted to one of Columbia’s Bachelor of Arts programs when they apply to transfer,” said Herrera. “We look forward to welcoming more Waubonsee students to become part of Columbia’s vibrant community.”
