Waubonsee recognizes the professional and academic accomplishments of its faculty and staff.

Kim Livingston, Associate Professor of English, published an essay titled “A Freezer of One’s Own” in the Carbon Culture Review.

Teri Fuller, Professor of English, will have her creative nonfiction essay, “Me, A Midwestern Farm Girl, and a Gun,” published in The Stoneboat Journal. In addition, Fuller graduated with honors with a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction from Antioch University, Los Angeles in June.

David Voorhees, Professor of Earth Science and Geology, had a paper published in the Illinois Geographer Special Issue on Physical Geography—a peer-reviewed journal published biannually. The paper, “New Madrid Seismic Zone: What Have We Learned in 200 Years?,” was favorably reviewed by the distinguished Earth Science and Geology textbook author, Fred Lutgens.

Dr. Pratima Jindal, Assistant Professor of Physics, and Michael Wilson, Adjunct Instructor of Earth Sciences/Astronomy, conducted a ‘star party’ for the patrons of the Sandwich Public Library on August 21. Thirty children and adults learned about using telescopes and building their own star finders to identify stars and constellations any night of the year. After the presentation, participants went outside and used telescopes provided by Waubonsee to view several planets and constellations.

Carolyn Chrusciel, Administrative Specialist Business and Career Technologies, successfully completed the requirements to be recognized as a Certified Microsoft Office Specialist for Excel 2016 and Word 2016.

Ken Kunz, Professor of Automotive Technology, earned the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Undercar Specialists Certification and Parts Specialist Certification as well as Master Automobile Technician Certification. He also earned the Snap-On Batter, Starting and Charging System Diagnostic Certification recognized by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in partnership with the National Coalition of Certification Centers.

Dr. David Beer, Assistant Dean for Business and Career Technologies, and Dr. Michelle Evans, Assistant Dean for Health Professions and Public Service, earned the Management Strategy and Strategy Institute’s Lean Six Sigma White Belt certification.

Spencer Brayton, Library Manager, was elected to serve as Board Liaison to the Information Literacy Committee for the Network of Illinois Learning Resources in Community Colleges.

Michelle Lindquist, Associate Professor of English, completed her professional certification program in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Florance, Italy.
