The Waubonsee Community College Board of Trustees seated Allison Rott to serve as the student trustee for the 2018-2019 academic year.

The student trustee is elected by the student body and serves as the liaison between the Board of Trustees and the college’s student body, representing student interests at the board level. Rott was seated at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting on April 18.

Rott, the daughter of Steve and Lynn Rott, is from Sheridan where she has lived her entire life. She is studying mass communications at Waubonsee and plans to become an editor. While at Waubonsee, she has served as a student senator, as a member of the Sexual Violence and Prevention Task Force Education Team and as the Vice President of Academic and Organizational Affairs for Phi Theta Kappa. She is also involved in 4-H, a writer’s group, a community band, and other part-time jobs.

“I hope to bring my unique perspective to the board, and simultaneously be a teacher and a student, as I have always found the best leaders to be,” she said. “I am delighted to serve.”
