Art Department

Waubonsee Community College’s Art Department has recently received accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), making it one of only two community colleges in Illinois to achieve this prestigious recognition. NASAD, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, sets rigorous standards for excellence in art and design education nationwide.

“NASAD accreditation can provide students with confidence in their education, make it easier to transfer credits between institutions, and encourage continued improvement of educational offerings,” said Heather Weber, Assistant Professor of Art at Waubonsee. “The benefits of NASAD accreditation also include securing 2+2 agreements, which aid in transferring credits to four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) programs.”

Waubonsee offers a vibrant selection of art classes for personal enrichment and for those pursuing a Fine Arts degree. Headquartered in the remodeled Von Ohlen Hall at the Sugar Grove Campus, students can engage in painting, drawing, design and ceramics courses. With transfer partnerships at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia College Chicago, transferring to a four-year institution is seamless. Students receive personalized guidance to select courses aligned with their career goals. Learn more about Waubonsee’s Art program at waubonsee.edu/art.
