Waubonsee Community College welcomes two new full-time faculty members for the coming academic year.
Dr. Steven Kifowit joins the faculty as an Instructor of Mathematics. He holds a doctorate and a master’s degree, both in mathematics, from Northern Illinois University, and a bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics, also from Northern Illinois University. He has served at Prairie State College as an assistant professor, associate professor, and professor, as well as the mathematics department chair. Kifowit has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Waubonsee from 1995 until 2000.
Christopher Purdy joins the faculty as an Instructor of Mathematics. He holds a master’s degree in mathematics from Northern Illinois University, a Master’s of Urban Education from Union University and a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Langauge from Moody Bible Institute. He has served as an instructor at Northern Illinois University and the Collegiate School of Memphis, Tennessee; as a teacher in the Memphis city schools and at the KIPP Diamond Academy in Memphis. He also served as a refugee tutor in the Chicago public schools. Purdy has served as an adjunct faculty member at Waubonsee since 2018.
