Waubonsee Community College’s official comfort K-9 dog, Hope, continues to make a positive impact on campus.
To celebrate Hope’s seventh birthday and the start of her first full academic year on campus, Waubonsee hosted a birthday bash complete with party hats, dog-friendly birthday treats, and presents.
The party, held in conjunction with Student Life’s Back-to-School Picnic, was well-attended by students, staff, and faculty.
In the first two weeks of the fall semester, Hope and her handler, Officer Danny Ramirez, Waubonsee Campus Police Officer, have interacted with over 200 students, faculty, and staff. Hope’s presence offers more than just companionship, as the goal of having a comfort K-9 is to foster a supportive and welcoming environment for students and staff alike.
Comfort visits with Hope help people cope with difficult situations, reduce their anxiety and stress, and improve their overall well-being.
