Waubonsee Community College presented the 2018 Support Staff Awards for Excellence at the July meeting of the college’s board of trustees. Awards were presented in two categories: one award for Excellence in Innovation and Creativity and one award for Excellence in Service and Quality.
Anders Lindell, Marketing and Communications Web Developer, received the Support Staff Award for Excellence in Innovation and Creativity for his ongoing emphasis on improvement and efficiency. Lindell was a key member of the college’s website redesign team. In that role, he always sought—and found—creative ways to improve not just the website, but the process for building the website. According to the nomination for him, Lindell “…not only consistently exceeds expectations, but he pushes others, from internal team members to external partners, to do the same.”
Terri Swanson, TRIO/Student Support Services Administrative Assistant, received the Support Staff Award for Excellence in Service and Quality for always delivering excellent service to the students she interacts with every day. In addition to her normal duties, she often willingly takes on additional responsibilities to assist co-workers within and outside of her department. According to the nomination for her, Swanson “has an unwavering commitment to service for students and a wholehearted commitment to Waubonsee’s mission.”
Waubonsee’s Support Staff Awards for Excellence are presented each year. Nominations are submitted from across the college and the recipients are determined by the college’s support staff committee. Awardees were named at the annual support staff lunch in June and were recognized by the board of trustees in July.
