Sugar Grove – Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with Baxter Healthcare International, is hosting a Diversity in STEM: Career Panel on Tuesday, April 23 at 4 p.m. at its Aurora Downtown Campus, located at 18 S. River St. While registration is encouraged, walk-ins are also welcome.
Five distinguished professionals from Baxter Healthcare, each with a unique background and a wealth of knowledge in their respective fields, will be featured on the panel. They hold advanced medical, nursing, engineering, and chemistry degrees, bringing a diverse perspective to the challenges and opportunities in STEM.
Caio Plopper, originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, received his medical and postgraduate training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology. He currently serves in a leadership role at Baxter’s Global Medical Affairs.
Sherry Fox began her nursing career at Palomar Medical Center in San Diego, CA. Her specialties include clinical education for advanced hemodynamic monitoring companies and infusion system devices in acute care settings. Her passion is patient and nursing advocacy.
Michael Essien is a research scientist at Baxter Healthcare’s Technical Services department. He has an engineering degree from Standford University. His passions are new product development and sustaining operations from an engineering perspective.
Paul Cole has a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry and is a Research Scientist at Baxter Healthcare. His passion is solving manufacturing issues and contributing to the extractable and leachable evaluation of numerous medical devices and sets.
