Waubonsee Community College will offer a program that prepares students for the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International certification as a Therapeutic Riding Instructor.
A certified instructor is qualified to conduct lessons that include teaching a riding skill to children and adults with emotional, social, behavioral, mental, and physical disabilities. Equine-assisted activities are used to improve the well-being of people with special needs.
The curriculum for this program has been updated to meet changes in PATH accreditation requirements. Also, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the theory portion of the course will be conducted online. Participants will complete the hands-on portion of the course with all precautions that include physical distancing and face coverings.
