Waubonsee Community College is offering an academic program that allows students to earn an associate degree in just one year.

The Dunham Fund QuickPath Degree Program gives motivated students the opportunity to earn an Associate in Arts Degree in a year by taking a series of hybrid classes that combine face-to-face meetings on the Sugar Grove Campus with online classes. The program is designed for students interested in transferring to a four-year college to complete a Bachelor of Arts Degree. This program is appropriate for students who will study communications, English, education, history and psychology. It is also great for those students who are undecided on a major.

Students accepted into the program complete it as a cohort. Sean Warren-Crouch, the program manager, provides assistance to the cohort on the transfer process and any other issues that may arise during the year.

“It’s intense but do-able. Sean is a great help. You have everything you need to succeed. Also, the cohort was good. We all helped each other out,” said Cynthia Garcia, a 2018 graduate of the program.

Those interested in applying for the Dunham Fund QuickPath Degree Program must have a high level of commitment and motivation to complete the accelerated program. They must also demonstrate college readiness with a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and placement in college-level courses. Students who have been out of high school for more than two years are welcome to apply and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure readiness for the program. Applicants must also be eligible for Waubonsee’s in-district tuition rate. The deadline for applications for the next cohort is July 2.

Waubonsee also offers a program that allows students to complete an associate degree in two years by taking a combination of evening classes at the college’s Aurora Downtown Campus and online classes.
