In order to help community members prepare for and pass the new edition of the GED test, Waubonsee Community College’s Adult Education Department will be offering free practice tests over the next few weeks.

Interested community members should visit the department’s office in room 457 of the downtown Aurora Campus, 18 S. River St., between Monday, Sept. 22 and Friday, Oct. 3 to make a practice test appointment. The office will be open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays; and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The new edition of the GED test was implemented in January of this year and is designed to test more complex thinking and problem solving skills. It is also administered via a computer instead of the old paper-and-pencil version.

Individuals taking the practice tests will not only get a chance to familiarize themselves with the new computer format and content, they’ll also receive a personalized study plan that will help identify and strengthen areas of weakness.
