Waubonsee Community College is pleased to join Achieving the Dream (ATD), a national, leading higher education reform network of more than 300 community colleges across the country.

As one of eight institutions joining the organization as part of its 2024 cohort, Waubonsee will enter into ATD’s Foundations of Transformation core engagement, an intensive three-year program. College leaders will work with ATD’s expert coaches to build essential capacities for student success, focusing on equity, data, teaching and learning, leadership, community partnerships, student supports, and more.

"We are honored and excited for Waubonsee to join the ATD network,” said Waubonsee President Dr. Brian Knetl. “ATD’s resources and expertise are always a great path to institutional transformation and improvement, but will become even more impactful when paired with the college’s new strategic planning process, which is currently underway.”

A public community college in the western suburbs of Chicago, Waubonsee Community College is committed to providing accessible, equitable, and innovative education. Across a network of four campuses (Sugar Grove, Aurora Downtown, Aurora Fox Valley, and Plano), online, or a combination, students can prepare for a four-year university, launch a new career, retrain or upskill, improve their basic skills, and more — all within their budget and on their schedule. Understanding and embracing the diversity of its district, Waubonsee is proud to be a formally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). ATD calls this Whole College Transformation. Its vision is for every college to be a catalyst for equitable, antiracist, and economically vibrant communities. ATD knows that with the right partner and the right approach, colleges can drive access, completion rates, and employment outcomes — so that all students can access life-changing learning that propels them into community-changing careers.
