Veterans Resource Fair

Waubonsee Community College will host a Veterans Resource Fair at its Aurora Downtown Campus, 18 S. River St., on Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free, family-friendly event is open to the public and is being held by Waubonsee Veteran Services in conjunction with the Kane County Veterans Assistance Commission.

Veterans and their families are invited to attend this event to learn how to navigate, access, and maximize eligible veterans’ benefits. Attendees will receive information about specialized offerings for veterans, including mental, health, emotional, nutritional, recreational, and wellness support services. The Illinois Department of Employment Security and workNet Batavia will also be available to assist veterans who are seeking career and employment resources. “We are excited to offer this free event to veterans in our community,” said Heather Watson, Academic and Career Advisor.

Next month, the college will observe Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11, with a special ceremony and a keynote presentation featuring alumnus Timothy Coakley, MD, Commander (U.S. Navy Retired, Medical Corps, Diving Medical Officer), Chief Executive Officer of Tactical Emergency Consultants International, Inc.
