Faith LaShure, Dean for Enrollment Management at Waubonsee Community College, has been selected to serve as Chairperson Elect of the Board of the Aurora-based Communities in Schools.
LaShure has served for three years as a member of the board of directors for the organization, which on its website states as its goal to connect “students and their families in local high schools to critical community resources tailored to their needs.”
To accomplish its goals, CIS partners with a number of local community organizations, including the East Aurora, West Aurora, Indian Prairie and Oswego school districts.
LaShure said she welcomed the appointment, as CIS directly serves current and future Waubonsee students at the high schools in Aurora and Oswego.
“So many of our students come from those schools,” LaShure said. “It’s great to be a part of something I feel so good about.”
LaShure’s two-year term as chairperson of the CIS board will begin in July 2015.
