Waubonsee Community College will host six free workshops to teach students and families how college financial aid works and to help them complete the 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
“Many students cannot afford college without receiving financial assistance. For these students, the completion of the FAFSA is a critical step in the college application process,” said Dr. Charles Boudreau, Director of Student Financial Aid Services.
The FAFSA is required for any student to be considered for financial aid at any college or university, including Waubonsee. The Waubonsee Financial Aid Office recommends that students and families submit the FAFSA by Dec. 15, 2017, to increase the chances of receiving aid in the 2018-2019 academic year.
The schedule for the workshops is:
- Wednesday, Oct. 11, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Aurora Downtown Campus, Room 219
- Wednesday, Oct. 18, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Aurora Fox Valley Campus, Room 209
- Thursday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Aurora Downtown Campus, Room 243
- Tuesday, Oct. 24, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Campus, Academic and Professional Center, Room 165
- Wednesday, Nov. 1, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Aurora Downtown Campus, Room 219
- Tuesday, Nov. 7, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Plano Campus, Room 122
To receive help with the FAFSA, students and families will need to bring their 2016 federal tax returns, their Social Security numbers and their Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID. People interested in receiving information about the financial aid process without completing the FAFSA do not need to bring any documents.
