Waubonsee Community College has named Puamuh T. Ghogomu II its 2016 Distinguished Alumnus. Ghogomu, of Evanston, is currently Senior Counsel in the Employment Law department at Walgreens.

Take a little trip back in time with me, please: It’s mid-February. The temperature has been below freezing for weeks, and snow covers the landscape. I take my Biology 122 students at Waubonsee Community College out to collect samples from Blackberry Creek. Amid the grumbling about the cold, students remark at how anything could still be alive in these conditions.

This month begins a year of reflection, gratitude and inspiration for Waubonsee Community College, as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. Measuring the ways that Waubonsee has become woven into the fabric of the lives of so many in our community over the past 50 years is both an honor and a challenge that speaks to the impact of the American innovation of community colleges in our country.

Dunham Fund Quick Path Scholars Introduced

John Dunham believed in the power of education to change people’s lives, and this week, Ryan Maley, Chairman of the Aurora-based Dunham Fund, met a group of Waubonsee Community College students whose lives are about to change due to that enduring belief and legacy.

Waubonsee and Mutual Ground Sign Memorandum of Agreement

Waubonsee Community College and the Aurora-based Mutual Ground signed a memorandum of agreement, formalizing a long-standing partnership that provides for services for survivors of, as well as prevention of domestic and sexual violence.
