This occurs every day in a hospital when a doctor calls a specialist to identify the proper treatment for an issue or when a social worker plans a discharge based on the recommendations from a nurse. When each profession brings its specialized knowledge to the table, innovation and progress can occur. Over the last year, the health care and educational industries have collaborated in several ways to improve health care right here in the Fox Valley.

Increasing Diversity Among First Responders

First responders such as police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians play critical roles in all of our communities.  As a result, it is increasingly important that this vital workforce reflects the diversity of the communities they serve. Community college faculty and staff have stepped up to this challenge through their efforts to recruit a diverse student body for programs that provide the technical and academic preparation for these fields.

Waubonsee Brings Veterans Day to Life

This year’s Veterans Day events at Waubonsee celebrate the college’s unique role in helping veteran and active service student members apply military training to careers in civilian life. Observances start at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, in the Academic and Professional Center on the Sugar Grove Campus.
