Waubonsee Community College Foundation scholarship applications are now available online for the 2017-2018 academic year. Apply by Feb. 6, 2017.

Waubonsee's Communications Department takes the basics of writing, speaking and listening in entirely new directions to make learning more effective, engaging and productive. For its efforts, the department is being recognized as the college’s Student Success: Featured Faculty and Program for November.  

As part of its ongoing 50th Anniversary celebration, Waubonsee recently held a First Responders Appreciation Day at its Plano Campus. The event was designed to recognize local police and fire organizations, expressing the college’s gratitude for the help they provide in educating future “first responders.”

Delivering quality health care cannot be done without collaboration. This occurs every day in a hospital when a doctor calls a specialist to identify the proper treatment for an issue or when a social worker plans a discharge based on the recommendations from a nurse. When each profession brings its specialized knowledge to the table, innovation and progress can occur. Over the last year, the health care and educational industries have collaborated in several ways to improve health care right here in the Fox Valley.

First responders such as police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians play critical roles in all of our communities.  As a result, it is increasingly important that this vital workforce reflects the diversity of the communities they serve. Community college faculty and staff have stepped up to this challenge through their efforts to recruit a diverse student body for programs that provide the technical and academic preparation for these fields.

Several students were recently elected to the Waubonsee Community College Student Senate.
