The Waubonsee Community College Foundation Board of Directors recently welcomed its newest director, Matthew Dennison of Yorkville.

Waubonsee Community College recognized the perseverance of student Destiny Mitchell, of Aurora, at its October board meeting for her determination to meet her career goals despite significant life challenges. 

Waubonsee Community College will host a Veterans Resource Fair at its Aurora Downtown Campus, 18 S. River St., on Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free, family-friendly event is open to the public and is being held by Waubonsee Veteran Services in conjunction with the Kane County Veterans Assistance Commission.

Students can face multiple obstacles in life as they frequently juggle work, family obligations, personal health and wellness needs, and taking classes simultaneously. Managing personal finances can leave one feeling unsure of where to start and whom to trust.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Waubonsee for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021. 

Waubonsee Community College will host College Night on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. on its Sugar Grove Campus in the Academic and Professional Center.

In recognition of National Arts and Humanities Month, Waubonsee Community College invites students, faculty, staff, and members of the community to celebrate the extraordinary and dynamic value of the arts at two special events during the month of October.

Waubonsee Community College invites students, faculty, staff, and members of the community to celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month. LGBTQ+ is a month-long recognition observed from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31 that raises awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history and related civil rights movements. This programming is free and open to the public.

At the September board meeting, Waubonsee Community College recognized its Developmental Education program and faculty for embodying the college's mission of providing exceptional learning in critical areas of developmental reading, writing, math, and other courses through accessible, innovative, and equitable education.
